Mental health and mental illness information

One in five Canadians are likely to experience a diagnosable mental illness… that would make over 185,000 York Region residents and 11,000 South Simcoe residents needing mental health services. One of the most common reasons people do not seek help for their illness is stigma which is often perpetuated by misconceptions about these illnesses.

Taking the time to learn about mental illness could make all the difference to you or to someone you care about. It’s important to watch for warning signs of mental illness—and to seek medical advice as soon as possible if any become apparent.
