Our Programs
We know that people can recover from mental illness when they are active and empowered. However the recovery journey, as depicted by the stone pathway, is often not straight and sometimes the steps are uneven. Even more so when someone is alone on their journey; we believe that greater success comes when support is available along the way. This is why we support the recovery and resilience of people experiencing serious mental illnesses.
We also recognize the important role of families and caregivers and this is why we offer a support and educational group for people with loved ones experiencing mental illness.
Many people with mental illnesses do not seek help for a variety of reasons, most commonly stigma and discrimination. As a primary provider of mental health services and programs in York Region and South Simcoe, our role in outreach is especially critical. Every year we attend community organizations and events, health fairs, school events, employer health and safety events, and engage in public education campaigns.
